When Diana and I started the What’s In My Bag series I thought; A) it would be a cute and fun way to show you guys what we actually use in our lives, and B) it would be interesting to see how our lip products change month to month and season to season.

What I’m most surprised about is B.

In January I was all about neutrals and nudes.

In February I started to introduce reds back into rotation.

Now in March, I don’t seem to want to wear any other shade than red. Whether it’s fully pigmented colour or a sheer wash on the lips, red is the clear winner for me this month.

The best pairing for a red-orange lip: CHANEL nail polish in 634 Arancio Vibrante | CHANEL blush in 380 So Close | Giorgio Armani in SÌ Passione | Milani Luminoso blush | NARS x Man Ray Fetishized blush

To bring a red lip to life and make it look effortless and less precious, I like to add a pop of red to the fats of my cheeks. I do this by first applying my blush as normal. Milani’s Luminoso is an all-around flattering peachy shade that flatters most skintones. Then I take a bright orange-red blush, like Chanel’s 380 So Close and I apply it only to the center of my cheeks. It brightens my complexion instantly and pulls together a red lip.  Finally, I like to keep my eye makeup to a minimum by only using mascara. This keeps the vibe more casual and not at all overdone.

Fresh Lip Treatments

I'm guilty of spending hundreds of dollars on skincare, but when it comes to lip care, I can be kind of cheap. For years, buying some Chapstick at the local drugstore seemed to be just fine. Now that I'm well into my 30's, I'm seeing fine lines and experiencing dryness and chapping more often. I got to thinking - why am I focusing so much on my skin and neglecting my lips - they're all on my face! If you're looking for products which are targeted especially for the delicate lip area, Fresh's Sugar Lip Treatments are definitely worth checking out.

Fresh's Sugar lip care consists of nourishing and conditioning products which are designed to boost hydration and keep your lips looking healthy. It's very likely that you've come across the brand's stick lip treatments at your local Sephora. These products are highly moisturizing and offer buildable colour. The latest shades from this lineup are Candy (a light, youthful, pink shade) and Honey (a natural, light brown tint) - both of which are ideal for all skin types and everyday wear. Don't need the colour? It also comes in classic clear for those times you wanna go bare, or need a moisturizing layer before your fave matte lipstick. These are formulated with grapeseed oil and Vitamins C and E which help protect your lips from damaging free radicals.

If you're looking for some hardcore moisture, the brand's Lip Caramel Hydrating Balm ($22 CND) is for you. It offers around the clock hydration, a delicious caramel scent, and doesn't leave your lips sticky. I'm a bit of a germaphobe, so applying anything with my fingers doesn't quite appeal to me. However, I've been using this as part of my evening skincare routine, and I wake up with super soft and supple lips.

Two products from the brand that are fairly new to me are the Treatment Perfecting Wand ($29 CND) and the Sugar Cane Lip Treatment ($24 CND). The Treatment Wand gently buffs lips and adds a natural glow. Like the all of the brand's lip offerings, it's rich in antioxidants and it leaves a light and pleasing tingle. The Sugar Cane Lip Treatment has a creamy formula that offers a light glow that looks fabulous on toasty skin. This product has a sweet, yet not overwhelming scent that's quite pleasant and offers 6-hours of hydration.

After using these products for a few weeks, my lips are moisturized and fine lines are less visible. The majority of them are great for on-the-go, as they're not sticky and applying a lip shade over doesn't pose any problems. They also provide a nice pick-me-up, as the scents of each are quite pleasing and uplifting. These are lovely products, but they are definitely splurge items as they start at $22.

Are these worth the money? Absolutely, especially if your lips are in dire need of TLC.

Would I repurchase? Definitely, as they will last quite some time. However, if you're looking for a tint that lasts, I'd move on. Some of these products do offer some colour, but the longevity isn't there if that's what you're looking for.

Diana Aldea

The name might be new to you, but Diana’s has been developing content for major brands for over a decade. She’s worked in advertising, ecommerce, broadcast TV and the public sector. That’s nice and all, but what does she know about lipstick? Aside from wearing it since the tender age of 11, she’s been a beauty contributor to WoahStyle since its inception, and actually pushed Nathalie to create the brand. She’s also real AF, so she ain’t gonna lie to you about products and how they work.
