The Perfect Summer Lip?! LANCÔME Mademoiselle Shine Lipsticks, Review + Swatches

With summer here I’ve switched my usual matte lipstick for something lighter. These new Lancôme L’Absolu Mademoiselle Shine lipsticks launched last month and I’m already addicted to them.

They feel like a juicy lip balm on the lips but have a lighter consistency than a gloss or a lipstick.

The shiny finish almost reminds me of a gloss, but it feels and looks more natural. Almost like your lips but better.

The shades are also buildable - dab it on for a sheer wash of colour or apply it straight from the bullet for a stronger pigment. Alternatively, line your entire lips with a matching lip liner for a full colour pay off with a glossy finish that will last.

Speaking of which, the longevity of these Mademoiselle Shine lippies is pretty good. It lasts through food and drinks, which I’m a big fan of.

Finally, if you’re sensitive to smells then you’ll appreciate these. There’s no offensive odor or taste and, doesn’t have that usual Lancôme lipstick smell. Hands up if you know what I’m talking about.

That aside, definitely check these out if you’re a fan of tinted lipsticks.

GUERLAIN Rouge G Customizable Lipsticks (new shades & cases)

Last year the Guerlain Rouge G lipsticks where all over social media and I have to admit, I was intrigued. I finally got a chance to try these out for myself after receiving them in PR.

One thing I have to admit is that I had no clue that a mirror was hidden in the clunky lipstick lid. I thought it was purely for design but it turns out to also have a purpose. In addition to that, I also didn’t realize that the cases are purchased separately, therefore making your entire lipstick completely customizable.

I can get behind that.

With 41 shades and three finishes, there’s something for everyone here.

Make sure to click on my YouTube video above for the full review and swatches.

Oh, and be sure to subscribe to the LIPSICK channel and give it a thumbs up if you enjoyed it as I’ll be making more content like this moving forward!

Christian Audette x Beauty Professor

As a true lipstick enthusiast, I often want to start my posts expressing how excited I am to be writing about yet another amazing tube of lipstick, but honestly, it couldn’t be more true right now. When I got Beauty Professor’s collaboration with Christian Audette in the mail I let out a little scream followed by “OMG RACHEL!”

For those who don’t know Rachel Anise is the beauty writer behind one of my favourite sites, Beauty Professor. She is a public speaker, model, actress, all around lover of luxury beauty, and fellow beauty blogger. She’s also happens to be new mother and when I held her three piece lipstick collaboration in my hands I have to admit that I teared up a little and thought “This is your year, Rachel.”

Mushy feelings and well wishes aside, let’s dive into the collaboration between Beauty Professor x Christian Audette, a brand that is admittedly new to me.

Christian Audette x Beauty Professor lipstick collection, Golightly, Johannah, Elle - beauty blog lipsick.me by Nathalie Martin_3207-2.jpg

Christian Audette is a cosmetics brand that specializes in producing vegan and cruelty free products. Their formulas are rich, creamy, and intensely pigmented, antioxidant rich and paraben-free.

Christian Audette x Beauty Professor lipstick collection, Golightly, Johannah, Elle - beauty blog lipsick.me by Nathalie Martin_3190-2.jpg

For her collaboration with Christian Audette, Rachel stayed true to her voice and created three nude shades that range from pink (Elle), to more neutral (Johanna), to peach (Golightly). The lipsticks come in a keepsake cosmetics bag bearing the CA x BP logo. The lipsticks are long lasting and I was pleasantly surprised to see it still on even after I had been snacking and drinking coffee.

CHRISTIAN AUDETTE x BEAUTY PROFESSOR

JOHANNA: A quintessential pinky nude cream, named after Rachel’s baby daughter.

GOLIGHTLY: The exact shade of opaque peachy beige with a satin finish that Audrey Hepburn wears in Breakfast at Tiffany’s.

ELLE: A universally flattering and buildable cool baby pink with a touch of luminosity. The name has special significance for both her mom and daughter and thus is an homage to women of all generations.

The CA x BP collection is beautiful and while I can see it working well for those who love nudes. I have a preference towards nudes that are more towards the medium end of the shade spectrum so I’ll be wearing a medium nude pencil underneath my lipstick. That way I can enjoy the collection while having it cater to my shade preference. Never under estimate the colour of a good lip pencil!

Congratulations Rachel for creating such a beautiful collection. I can’t wait to see what you’ll do next! Thank you for including me on the launch. I’m beyond honoured and flattered.

Giorgio Armani Rouge D'Armani Matte Lipsticks

I have a special place in my heart for Armani lipsticks seeing as they were one of my first luxury beauty splurges. Even back in those days, I’d carry numerous tubes of red lipsticks with me at all times because god forbid I be caught not wearing lipstick. #highmaintenance

These days I’m more chill about my approach to beauty but regardless, anytime I see a tube of Armani, I know I’ll be getting something special.

The new Rouge D'Armani Matte Lipsticks are no exception. Lightweight, silky smooth, highly pigmented, and never drying, these mattes are super comfortable to wear.

Considering I’ve been living in Saint Laurent sneakers and sweats these days, comfort is key in my life. I’ve even simplified my makeup routine to a swipe of CHANEL mascara, rosy pink cheeks, and a bold lipstick. If it’s gonna dry out lips, I don’t want it in my life. If it’s too complicated to apply, no thanks.

These days I’m more inclined to bring just a single tube of lipstick with me when I’m out. The me from years ago wouldn’t even know what hit her.

L'ORÉAL x ISABEL MARANT: THE ENTIRE WANTED COLLECTION

L'Oréal Paris x Isabel Marant, entire collection review, matte lipsticks - photos by nathalie martin for lipsick.me_2661.jpg

The collaboration I’ve been waiting for since it’s announcement is finally here - L’Oréal x Isabel Marant!

Called the WANTED collection, it consists of seven matte lipsticks, a lip gloss in a universally flattering pink, clear brow/lash mascara, a duo eyeshadow palette, and a peachy-pink highlighter/glow product that comes in a little pot for on the go application.

I feel like the Parisian designer stayed true to her voice in her first ever makeup line and even though the collection feels small, it makes a lot of sense. Like her eponymous fashion line, all of the shades can be easily dressed up for evening, or dressed down during the day.

Think of a nude lip and rosy cheek for a Sunday afternoon, or, a red lip and soft black eyeshadow for a night out. The shades celebrate woman without being too overt or sexy and focuses more on her individuality to bring the makeup to life.

Honestly, I’m just relieved all of the shades are flattering and wearable for every day. It’s my biggest pet peeve when makeup brands collaborate with someone only to come out with unwearable crayon-coloured shades that barely suit anyone.

As a big Isabel Marant fan myself (she’s honestly one of my favourite designers), I can safely say that everyone will enjoy these incredibly chic shades.

The limited edition collab is out now at loreal.ca and at retailers where L’Oréal Paris is sold.

ISABEL MARANT MATTE FINISH LIPSTICK SMILE

Seven matte lipsticks can be found in the Isabel Marant WANTED collection.

BASTILLE WHISTLE - nude pink
LA SEINE SHADOW - brown pink
BELLEVILLE RODEO - dark purple red
PIGALLE WESTERN - bright red pink
SAINT GERMAIN ROAD - true blue red
PALAIS ROYAL FIELD - warm red
LA BUTTE MARSHALL - medium red

Each matte lipstick says “SMILE” on one side and “WEAR NOTHING BUT A SMILE AND YOUR STYLE” on the other side. Sooooo Isabel Marant!

ISABEL MARANT MAGIC BEAUTIFIER LIP GLOSS AMAZE

The product I turned out to really be impressed is the AMAZE lip gloss that comes in one shade - a sheer soft magenta-y pink shade that can be used on the lips and cheeks and that’s said to be universally flattering but I’ve only tried it on my light-medium olive skin and I freakin’ love it!

ISABEL MARANT DUO EYESHADOW

The duo eyeshadow pan created for the WANTED collab features a matte black which is perfect for using as eyeliner, and an iridescent black/teal shade that has an elegant pop to it. Use it with makeup brushes or apply it with your fingers for a “perfectly imperfect” look.

ISABEL MARANT UNIVERSAL HIGHLIGHTER SHINE

Since this entire collaboration is so, so good, I almost hate to admit that the highlighter is the one product I could do without. It’s a said to be a universal illuminator but it’s on the matte side and there’s hardly any reflects it in. It feels like a silicone based product and has that silicone texture I don’t like.

I applied it over top of my cheeks on a day I was wearing a light powder foundation and it actually disturbed my makeup. Honestly, I can’t figure out how to use this product or what it’s for. If you figure it out, please leave me a comment! Maybe I’m using it all wrong!

BITE BEAUTY Prismatic Pearl Multistick

BITE BEAUTY Prismatic Pearl Multistick Review - _6483.jpg

Between my mum and I, we're pretty much unofficial spokespeople for Bite Beauty. Don't believe me? Just have a look at any of my previous articles and you'll see what I mean - Bite Does It Again With This New Product and REVIEW: Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick.

Anytime they launch something new, I get excited to see what's up.

This time they're bringing us major shimmer with their Prismatic Pearl Multistick - a multifunctional product that can be used on the lips, eyes, and cheeks.

The five shades are available now, exclusively at Sephora online and in stores.

BITE BEAUTY Prismatic Pearl Multistick Review - _6440.jpg

I'm a total sucker for packaging and I can't get enough of these holographic boxes for Bite Beauty's new Prismatic Pearl Multisticks.

Bite Beauty's Prismatic Pearl Multisticks

Blush Pearl - metallic white with pink shimmer
Oyster Pearl - metallic taupe with silver shimmer
Peacock Pearl - metallic teal with black, red and green shimmer
Rose Pearl - metallic rose with green and violet shimmer
Pink Pearl - metallic pink with red and pink shimmer

These multisticks have major versatility and crazy shimmer. Inspired by Tahitian pearls, the silicone-free formula contains 35 percent powder which helps the formula shift from creamy to powder once it's set, making it ideal for eyes and cheeks in addition to using it on the lips. They are buildable, breathable and blend easily with fingers or a brush if that's more your thing. As with all of Bite's other products, the Prismatic Pearl Multisticks are handmade in Toronto with organic and natural ingredients.

BITE BEAUTY Prismatic Pearl Multistick Review - _6457.jpg

What's great about Bite's Prismatic Pearl Multistick is how diverse the product is. You can use it on your lips as a wash of shimmery colour, and top it off with Bite's iconic Agave Lip Mask for a glowing, natural look. It also works great layered on top of your favourite lipstick if you want to add a hint of colour and shimmer.

CHANEL SS18 Neapolis Collection: Part One

CHANEL POUDRE À LÈVRES LIP BALM AND POWDER DUO in ROSSO POMPEIANO, NAIL POLISH in 634 ARANCIO VIBRANTE, ROUGE ALLURE LUMINOUS INTENSE LIP COLOUR in 182 VIBRANTE, ROUGE ALLURE INK MATTE LIQUID LIP COLOUR in 164 ENTUSIASTA-lipsick.me_6274.jpg

I'm pretty loyal to the brands I love, but I'm even more loyal to the people breathing life into a collection season after season. Enter Lucia Pica, CHANEL's Global Creative Makeup Artist and Colour Designer.

I first learned about Pica early last year, but I was already familiar with her work from her debut collection at CHANEL, Le Rouge, which launched in August of 2016. The line up of red eyeshadows, red eyeliners, red lipsticks, and yes, red nail polishes had me weak in the knees but I was silly and ended up only buying a single bottle of nail polish. Seeing how much I love red, I still think about that collection to this day.

Pica's boldness and artistry is what drove me to fall in love with CHANEL Beauty all over again, and for the latest CHANEL Spring/Summer 2018 collection, called Neapolis: New City, I knew I didn't want to miss out on anything so I bought a few pieces to play with - all in vibrant orange-red of course, because there is no other colour that makes me happier.

The Neapolis collection was inspired by Pica's birthplace of Naples, Italy.

"When I close my eyes and think of Naples, these are the colours I see..."

- Lucia Pica

The full collection line spans eleven pieces and twenty-three limited edition shades; from blush to eyeshadow, eyeliner, mascara, cream eye colour, nail polish, lipstick, lip gloss, and the brands most talked about product right now, the lip powder/lip balm duo called Poudré À Lévres.

In this blog post, we'll be reviewing and swatching CHANEL's Rouge Allure Luminous Intense Lip Colour, Rouge Allure Ink Matte Liquid Lip Colour, Poudré À Lévres Lip Balm and Powder Duo, and Le Vernis Longwear Nail Colour.

Stay tuned for a future post featuring more of CHANEL's SS18 collection, Neapolis: New City.

I've heard amazing things about CHANEL's liquid lipsticks and when I saw shade 164 Entusiasta, a vibrant orange-red shade, I knew I needed it.

It's not a traditional red by any means and it has a much more playful air to it while still maintaining its elegance.

That's one of the reasons I love red so much because I always feel put together, and like I can conquer anything while wearing it.

The liquid lipstick itself isn't the drying matte formula we've seen from other makeup brands. It's creamy in texture, lightweight, and hydrating. The colour is intense, and I love how it leaves a natural sheen on my lips.

What I love about CHANEL's Spring/Summer 2018 collection is the ability to really play around with the formulas and be your own makeup artist. For example, their new lip powder layers beautifully on to top if their lipsticks if you want to achieve a matte look.

CHANEL POUDRE À LÈVRES LIP BALM AND POWDER DUO in ROSSO POMPEIANO - makeup review SS18 collection NEAPOLIS, NEW CITY - lipsick.me - nathalie martin lipstick beauty blog.jpeg

Something special. Something new.

CHANEL's Poudré À Lévres lip balm/powder duo is the product I was most excited to try from the SS18 collection.

Inspired by Lucia Pica's travels back to her birthplace of Naples and the traditional tempera techniques to create ancient frescoes.

Start by applying the balm to the lips and then adding the powder over top. You have to apply the balm first otherwise the powder won't work its magic.

It's like mixing your own lipstick, fresh each time.

You can really control the intensity by adding a lot of powdered colour, or just a little to get that natural, just-bitten look.

Best of all, the product is versatile and can be applied to the cheeks like a blush. The colour is intense, so go in with a light hand.

Poudré À Lévres is limited edition and comes in three shades - 418 Rosa Tempera (medium pink), 410 Rosso Pompeiano (orange-red poppy, pictured here), and 415 Rosso Parthenope (deep raspberry).

CHANEL LE VERNIS LONGWEAR NAIL POLISH in 634 ARANCIO VIBRANTE - makeup review SS18 collection NEAPOLIS, NEW CITY - lipsick.me - nathalie martin lipstick beauty blog_6364.jpg

The perfect red nail polish is hard to find when your skin has yellow undertones. CHANEL's Global Creative Makeup Artist and Colour Designer, Lucia Pica, did an outstanding job with this one called 634 Arancio Vibranté. It's an intense bright orange that leans towards red. I can't wait for warm sandal weather because this shade will look phenomenal on toes.

CHANEL POUDRE À LÈVRES LIP BALM AND POWDER DUO in ROSSO POMPEIANO, NAIL POLISH in 634 ARANCIO VIBRANTE, ROUGE ALLURE LUMINOUS INTENSE LIP COLOUR in 182 VIBRANTE, ROUGE ALLURE INK MATTE LIQUID LIP COLOUR in 164 ENTUSIASTA-lipsick.me_6286.jpg

Red is classic and elegant and can make even the simplest look standout. A red lip, red nails, a touch of blush, and mascara is all you need to look put together in five minutes or less.

Benefit Punch Pop Liquid Lip Colour

Benefit Punch Pop lip gloss - liquid lip colour - review - swatch - strawberry, watermelon, cherry, mango, bubble gum_5897.jpg

Ever meet someone and what they’re wearing is totally extra, but their personality is a little subdued?

That’s how I felt about Benefit’s Punch Pop Liquid Lip Colour. The packaging is loud, but the product itself is fairly refined and easy to wear for any occasion. This lip colour is infused with vitamin E, so you’ve got some legit hydrating power, but your lips aren’t left feeling overly emollient. The colour pay-off is quite good, but isn’t overpowering. Lastly, you’d expect there to be a strong scent or taste that corresponds with the shades names (bubblegum, cherry, mango, strawberry, watermelon), but there really isn’t.

This is the kind of product that would be great for work, or when you’re trying to add a touch of colour without being too over the top.
