When it comes to lipsticks with ultra-luxurious packaging, few brands do it well. These YSL Volupté Tint-in-Balms might just be the chicest lip balms I've ever tried. While the formula is really nice and sleek on the lips, it's the packaging that won my heart over. What do you expect from a girl with a crazy collection of Saint Laurent shoes and bags?
Not only do these balms look good on your vanity, but they're also fun to play with. The sheer colours are as shiny as the sleek silver tube and perfect for summer. If you're the kinda girl who prefers lip balms and sheer tints over lipstick, you're gonna love these. They leave a subtle kiss of colour on the lips with a subtle peachy taste and scent that's light and pleasant.
The collection has eleven shades in total and I have three of the colours to review for you here - all in the pink family. Tease Me Pink (soft rose pink), Play Me Fuchsia (hot-pink fuchsia), and Seduce me Pink (luscious berry). I normally prefer coral, orange and red shades for my warm-medium skin tone, so I naturally gravitated towards Seduce Me Pink, the deepest of the three shades and the one with less pink.
The longevity is exactly what one would expect from a shiny lip balm, which isn't much. A few sips of water later and you'll be reaching for that pretty silver YSL tube to reapply. On the other hand, the formula is pretty hydrating and feels good on the lips thanks to the apricot butter and jojoba oil.
If you're looking for more longevity, I'd recommend lining your lips with lip pencil first so the balm has something to stick to. It's my favourite trick to making tinted balms last longer.
The tops of the lip balms have the cutest details of a silhouette of a lip that goes all the way to the bottom of the tube so it never runs out. It's the attention to detail like this, and the beautiful silver bullet with the gold YSL raised letters that makes these balms so special. Sure, the formula is great but I just can't get over the beautiful packaging!
